CFO - Chief Financial Officer

ThrustMe is a fast-growing industrial engineering startup in the space sector, founded in 2017. We are highly educated world experts in satellite space propulsion, pioneering the field of streamlined in-orbit propulsion for the rising satellite constellation paradigm. We help our clients in the US, Europe, and Asia, to maneuver satellites once in space while meeting their short timelines and cost-capped budgets. The company made history in 2019 and 2020 with the world's first in-orbit demonstrations of iodine-fueled electric propulsion systems, technologies that will revolutionize the satellite mobility industry. ThrustMe entered the market in 2019/2020 and has a solid commercial pipeline forecasting rapid growth in 2022.

As the first CFO of ThrustMe, you will be a vital member of the company's leadership team. You will be responsible for delivering on the business' quarterly income and free cash goals and long- and short-term strategic and operational planning. As CFO, you will also play a critical role in the business' capital allocation decisions and provide insight and support in fundraising and substantial project proposals. At the onset of our growth phase, this job is an exciting financial role with a fantastic mix of operating responsibilities, strategic support, and team leadership and development. 

You will direct all financial analysis and reporting of business performance through strategic plans, the annual financial plan, monthly forecasts, and analysis of actual results. Leveraging your exceptional business and financial acumen and strong communication skills, you will tell the story of business performance and results through numbers. You are accountable for business results, profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow items, calendar adherence, and execution against key initiatives.

You will report directly to the CEO and be a true partner. With the CTO and the CPO (chief production officer, currently also being recruited), you will constitute ThrustMe's senior leadership team.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Prepare financial plans, forecast, and analysis
  • Communicate business results via financial monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Track and monitor spending on national and European grants and space agency projects
  • Review various contracts to manage the company's legal obligations and risks
  • Manage purchasing policies, procedures, and processes to procure materials, supplies, and services
  • Manage banking relationship(s), treasury functions
  • Manage tax credits for all R&D activities (Crédit d’Impôt Recherche et le Crédit d’Impôt Innovation)
  • Serves as liaison to legal counsel for general business matters
  • Serves as liaison to various local, state, and federal government agencies and tax authorities


Required skills and qualifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance
  • 5+ yrs experience in senior-level management accounting position (Controller, CFO) within mid-sized companies and/or startups
  • Relevant management accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Results-oriented with proven track record of success, accomplishments, i.e., meaningful impact
  • Working knowledge of raising capital beyond traditional lines of credit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
